Then she asked me if I would play with her.
I was caught. What do I do?
So I told her I don't know how to play.
Which is pretty true.
To be honest I never really remember playing when I was little. I didn't have Barbie's and my Cabbage Patch Doll pretty much just sat next to me while I was busy reading or writing. I consumed books growing up and could often be found in my bedroom, in my treehouse, or somewhere curled up with my books. I remember playing library and store with my brother every now and then, but other than that I can't remember playing much. For fun we did things. I played outside, we went on lots of bike rides, packed picnics to take hiking in the woods, went fishing, had family softball games, shot hoops, played board games, and things like that.
So that's what I do with my kids. We go places, see new things, and explore. We visit museums, zoos, amusement parks. When we are home we cook together, make crafts, and play board games. During the summer we head to the beach, ride bikes, take walks, hang out at the park, have picnics, and discover new adventures.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE spending time with my kids, just not time playing with them per se!
What about you?
Are you good at playing? Do you play trains, legos, barbies, tea parties? Or are you more like me and enjoy doing things with your children?
Oh by the way, I did attempt playing Barbies with Zoe. I lasted a whole 5 minutes until her Barbie started dancing on the table and putting the milkshake straw up my Barbie's nose. Then I made my escape.
