Christmas Card Dilemma

Because you all know how I can't get it together for Christmas this year green I am this year I have decided that the only Christmas Card will be posted right here for the world to see!!

Why the Bah-Humbug?

Well first of all, I like to send personalized Christmas cards. You know pictures of the family, the kids, the beach. So I usually start in November figuring out what picture I'm going to use, then I upload it somewhere, and wait for them to arrive to send them on their way wishing Christmas Cheer here and there.

Up until last year I had these little index cards that had everybodys address from when we were married. Over the years I had added new addresses and discarded some, but I had a pretty good address book thingy going. Then last year I thought, "You are way to techy to have index cards with addresses and not an address book on the computer where you can just print out labels." So I entered every address in a neat little spreadsheet, alphabetized and everything.

Then comes this year...
No picture was taken.
No address book can be found (we have went through three computers since last year and I can't find it on any drive!)

Therefore...
No Christmas card will be sent
and you know what? I'm actually okay with it! We really only get a few a year and every year they seem to be dwindling. Hmmm...maybe it's our friends that are dwindling?

I'm thinking Christmas Cards may be falling by the wayside.

What do you think? Do you receive many cards? Do you send Christmas cards? If you send them do you do cards, emails, or letters? I can't wait to hear how what you all do with Christmas Cards!

  1. I'm a sender. and I have my list on a spreadsheet to print out the labels...only this year I didn't have enough labels, so I hand wrote out the entire list. Luckily that's the only hand writing that I'm doing this year. I had DD draw us a card, and I used Powerpoint to make a collage of pictures to send, and printed that at home too (I used to have it printed, but that got pricey!) Yeah, this year's cards look a bit cheap...but I can blame the bad economy...right? hee hee

course I need to get off my duff and go mail them now that they are mostly done!

  2. I am a sender too. It's something that I like to do because it's really the only time of year that many of my friends get to hear from us without the tech stuff (emails and texts). We have a Walgreen's here and I designed my cards online and had them printed in about an hour. I picked them up and wrote them out while watching Charlie Brown's Christmas with the peeps. As for pictures I do like to do a little photo of the kids in front of the tree. But in years past I have taken pics from our vacations and used them. And one of the card designs had a collage look where you could put 4 or 5 pictures. Maybe check out your summer pictures and you may find some there. :)

Oh and cost wise......I purchased 40 cards and paid $14.99 plus tax. Cheaper then box cards for sure and they are personalized. :)

  3. I am a sender too... but that may change after this year. I had 35 or more Christmas Cards stolen out of my box... No kidding. Ones I was going to send... not received.

I have a plan for next year tho... I am going to request that each person EMAIL ME their digital card and I will spend the money to print them out (for 17 cents max or something silly like that).

Then I still get a picture... They save on time and postage... and everyone is happy!!! :) I keep the pictures from cards on my board year round so I can pray for those families when I see them.

I got FAR fewer Christmas Cards this year then ANY in the past... I mean by droves... even compared to last year. Still got over 20... but not my normal 75ish... it's a sad sad economy.

  4. I like sending and receiving Christmas cards. I think mail is a sort of lost art. It is exciting for me to go out to the mailbox and have something in there I really want to open.

    My two cents.

  5. christmas cards are expensive, yo!
i'd happily give them up.... but everyone would throw a fit. we're so bad about keeping in touch with people (despite blogging ;-) that its the only time we send pictures to some people!

  6. I got through the first third or so last night. Sent them out today - 25 or so. I'm very bad about cards in general, thank you's in particular, so I try very hard to be good about Christmas cards. They are photo cards that have a message inside, and then we're trying to write just a few sentences to personalize.

And I don't expect to be getting many this year, seeing as we moved last May and never told anyone our new address (other than immediate family). See - told you I'm bad about sending out cards - the change of address just sort of never happened.

  7. I'm with you. I got a picture of the 3 of us on Sunday but I can't find my address book. so whatever addresses I can remember or get from my mom is all that will get sent... mostly to family. oh well... one less thing to worry about!

  8. I love sending and receiving Christmas cards. This year I sent out 40 cards along with a copy of a handwritten letter with an update regarding the family. It's not Christmas unless you send and receive cards from friends and families. From Your momma
