This week's carnival at Crazy Hip Blog Mama's is all about how you and your hubby met...
Dave and I met at an ice skating rink of all places! A girlfriend and I were going through some tough guy times. I had been through a rough relationship that had ended about 5 months earlier and my friend was involved with an emotionally abusive guy so we decided that enough was enough and it was time for some girl time. My friend was a half way decent skater and thought she would take up figure skating so I tagged along to try something new. We decided to attend an adult skate on Saturday nights where everybody who came was over 18 and most of the time it was the same small group of skaters. We had a blast hanging out, my friend would practice some moves and I actually got half way decent at skating forward. I was so decent that I thought I would go all the way and skate backwards...this is where Dave comes in. He was there just about every week, but other than a friendly smile or nod we didn't talk. However, as I was trying to teach myself to skate backwards Dave just about ran me over and, well you all know how quiet I am, so of course I had to say something. This brought on the conversation that I was never going to be able to skate backwards the way I was trying and he said, and I quote, "You have to shake your butt and hips more." What a line, right??!! Anyways, he worked with me for a few minutes and then went on his way. The following couple of weeks we would say hello and he would give me some pointers, but that was about it. After skating, my friend and I would always head to Denny's (had to balance that exercise with a midnight snack of something greasy or ice cream) so one week I invited Dave. That is how it all began! We became friends and then things just kind of went from there. God really blessed me with such a great guy and I am very thankful for him. He is the best husband and father any woman could ask for and I am double lucky because he is my best friend too!! I love you, babe!
So now it is your turn. You can head over to Crazy Hip Blog Mama's to sign Mr. Linky and share your story or just leave me a comment so I can come over to see how you and your honey met. I can't wait to read all about it.
