Tackle It Tuesday - Christmas in the Kids Room

One thing that I wanted to make sure to tackle before going back to school was the kids rooms. I had gotten everything to their rooms a few days after Christmas, but there it lay in piles.

So Saturday I wrestled the kids upstairs and we dove in to the mess. Finally, after a few hours of sweat, tears, and threats that everything was going into the trash (yep, that was me) we found a home for everything. Some old toys even found a new home in the trash and yard sale pile!

By the time we were finished the kids rooms looked like this...

and then naps were taken by all!

Don't forget to visit 5minutesformom to see what everybody else has been tackling.

  2. Good job! I have been trying to get a handle on my kids room, too. It gets out of control so quickly!

  3. Wow! Awesome job! I've used the "going in the trash" threat too. I always works! Desperate times call for desperate measures. haha :)

  4. I am sooooo glad to see that I don't have the only kid who's room frequently looks like that. I just don't understand how one little person can make such a great big HUGE mess. And unfortunately for me she also messes up the basement (which is totally fine...only rule is there HAS to be a path in the mess for the adults to get through to the rabbit cage) and the family room and my office! I think I'm going to give her a warning... today my plan is to get the Christmas stuff down and put away. But after that any of her items that are not out of my site are leaving. (yeah, I use that threat too!)

  6. Love that "Ta-dah!" look in the last picture! Great job. That was a lot of work.

Don't forget Freecycle for things that no longer fit in the room but are not yet ready for the trash!

  7. Great Job! Granted Abraham is too little to "purge" with me but I did it for him after his plethora of Christmas gifts! He did want to know where his toys were going. I appeased him by telling him that they were going to Mimi's because they were baby toys!! Hee Hee!!

  8. OMG Mel - that would have sent me into a tizzy! My girls get in trouble if I find their dirty clothes on the floor. They must never see these pictures, or they will turn against me!
    Great job!
