Back to My Real Job

This week was my first full week back at school although technically I guess it wasn't a full week because I did have today off for a four day weekend and I did go back last week so it wasn't my first week back, but anywho...I'm back to work!

Back to school time is always bittersweet.
The mommy part of me is sad that the summer is over.  I enjoy being with my kids, going to the beach, hanging out on the boat, spending days at home in our pj's.  The summers just seem to keep getting better and better as the kids get older and we can do more with less effort on my part. They can get themselves ready and packed for the day and we don't have to take snacks, drinks, extra clothes, and all that other stuff. I know before long though they are going to want to fill their days with camps and activities with their friends so it's a great in between time.  It was a fabulous summer and I'm sad to bid it goodbye.  That's the bitter part.

But on the sweet side of things, I love my job.  I enjoy going back to work and setting up my room.  Organizing the classroom with clean desks, bright white boards, sharpened pencils, new crayons, and fresh notebooks make me happy. And don't even get me started on all the fun office supplies...bright color pens, stylish file folders, snazzy paper and binder clips, post it notes.  Love it!  Then there are the students of course.  They come in ready for a change and honestly looking for some structure.  Before long we are in our groove and I get the priveledge of watching them grow throughout the year. Awesome.

I can't wait to see what this school year brings.
One thing I know I can count on though is no dull moments with my 5th graders.

Ready or not...here we go!!
