Time to Make the Donuts

I can't believe I'm actually posting in the peace and quiet of my house. Even better it's 8am and I'm still laying in bed with my laptop. Life is good.

My birthday yesterday was a hit and thank you to everybody who left me a comment or sent me a birthday tweet. It was so much fun reading them all! Dinner out last night was fantastic. I'm so blessed to have such a great group of girlfriends and the fact that our husbands get along make it even better. The girls gave me a gift card to shop at the outlets and I also got an adorable pair of flip flops so I'm going to be ready for Key West next Sunday.

The end of the week was exhausting, but I got a lot accomplished. All my paperwork for school is complete and for those of you who haven't ever worked in a school let me tell you that you haven't seen paperwork until you have seen it at the end of the school year. There are cum cards, cum folders, IEP folders, check out lists, more check out lists, and on and on it goes. Of course in the midst of all the papers I was also trying to move my room to entire new floor in the school. Other teachers couldn't believe how much stuff I moved and kept telling me I need to purge. Now anybody who has ever been in my classroom could attest to the fact that my classroom is probably one of the most organized in the school. I don't keep papers, old books, or anything I don't use. Every year I throw away things I didn't use that year because I don't want my room to end up looking like those who have taught for longer than I've been alive. I kept challenging those who were picking on me to empty their room and then we could compare! Anywho, my old room is completely cleared out and about 3/4 of the stuff in my new room is put away. WOOHOO!! Thankfully, Monday is a teacher work day and I am thinking by the end of that day I will be all moved in.

Now for the weekend.
It's a busy one.
This morning I need to do a quick clean up of the den so that my sis-in-law and niece have a place to sleep without tripping over toys for next week. Then I'm packing the car, going to pick the kids up from one set of grandparents, to take them to the other set (my parents). The kids and I are heading to Maryland to spend the night at my parents for a little b-day celebration. I am running a 5K over there in the morning and hoping to sneak in some shopping with a couple gift cards I have. We talked about having a little crab feast tomorrow too! Then my sis-in-law and niece are coming back to Delaware with us to stay for the week. My sil offered to watch the kids for my inservice days and then we will be able to hang out after my last day on Wednesday.

Busy, busy, but lots of fun.
Although none of it is going to happen if I don't get up and start the day, I suppose.

Have a great weekend!!

  4. Oy! I remember those non-student days at the end all too well. The first year I had a classroom of my own I was floored with all that there was to do. As if report cards are not enough you have all of the folders and state exams to report on and on and on. Best of luck finishing up the move with your classroom on Monday.
