No More Mondays.

Yesterday was a difficult day.
I got to the point when everything was just looming in front of me and I couldn't take anything else.

My class is finished with school and I can't blame them because I am too. Everything I have taught them this year has been forgotten. It is like we have gone back in time to our first day together as they forget how to line up, say the pledge appropriately, walk in a line, use an indoor voice, etc, etc. Every year I forget exactly how much I dislike the last couple of days of school! I will survive though. After all there will not be any more Mondays with my students for this school year!

While trying to maintain the zoo that is my classroom, this week I will also be...
  • participating in meetings after school every day this week
  • organizing our volunteer tea for thirty-some volunteers
  • planning the end of year staff party
  • putting together 6 gift baskets for retirees, teacher of the year, para of the year, and one baby basket for a teacher who just went out on maternity leave
  • holding a Chocolate Factory day in my room for my students families (wait till you see the pictures...you will see why I truly do love teaching)
  • printing report cards and a million other grade reports
  • completing cumulative folders
  • checking special education folders
  • oh and did I mention packing up entire room into boxes to move upstairs to a new room for 5th grade?

FUN TIMES!

  1. I feel your pain...that would be why I was in bed before 8 last night! (Something about tie dying 58 field day shirts in two hours the last week of school would do that to the best of us!)

    Good luck! Hang in there!

  2. Sounds like a busy schedule! My daughter came home from school yesterday and cried for 20 minutes because she is so tired of school. She has 12 more days to get through.

  3. My father is a retired teacher - and I can remember that by the end of the year, he was completed frazzled. Hang in there!

  5. On your blog I read about the end of the school year from the teacher's prospective. On another friend's blog I read about it from the parent's prospective.

here I avoid having a year end by doing school all the time. :D

My parent friend wants to know why teachers always assign huge projects at the end of the year.

  12. Wow ... that is a LOT on your plate, Mel! I'm exhausted just reading that list. I can, however, relate to the end-of-school craziness. My kids finish on Monday and you can definitely tell it is the last week of school here. Good luck (and I can't wait to see photos of the Chocolate Factory. Better yet, can I be a student in your class that day? :)
