Weigh In Wednesday

Time to weigh in for the Shrink into Summer Challenge.
Finally, I have good news to share, which is why this is actually posted on Wednesday rather than Thursday or Friday or whenever I can avoid it no longer.

I made some big time changes to my eating habits this week and on top of that have been busy shredding away. For the past three weeks I have continuously been over my daily/weekly allowance points. I kept using the excuse that it was okay because I was exercising, but really it wasn't, which was evident from my scale reading each week. Before I wouldn't necessarily count my activity points so I didn't have them to consume, but lately I had been counting my activity points since I was exercising regularly and eating the extra points plus more.

Well I was determined that it wasn't going to happen this week! I'm happy to report that it is Wednesday and I still have 13 weekly allowance points left. Plus the past two days I haven't even used all my points. Don't get me wrong I'm pretty darn close to using them all, but had 1.5 left yesterday and .5 today.

The results:
Saturday is my official weigh in day and as of last Saturday, I was down 1lb. Even more exciting is that this morning my scale showed 140, which is 2 lb less than Saturdays weigh in. Woohoo!! I'm thrilled with this because I set the goal of the 130's before spring vacation (FRIDAY) and I may actually get there. I really had my doubts, but now that I almost have it in my grasp I am even more motivated to keep going.

It always seems like if I can just get over a hump and see some results that I am motivated to keep on going. Now that I am watching my scale drop I'm pumped to keep counting the points, saying no to snacking, and exercising, exercising, exercising!!

I'm a little worried though about leaving for vacation on Friday. The good thing is that our family vacations usually result in much walking and exploring so hopefully the exercise will not be a problem. I am taking the shred DVD and will be doing that in the evenings on my laptop. My Ipod and Nike+ will also be joining me on the trip and I'm hoping to get a couple runs in. There are some beautiful neighborhoods where we're visiting along the bay and ocean so I'm hoping the new scenery will motivate me too. I must confess though that I don't have the food plan down as well. I need to create some guidelines so I don't go too crazy, that is for sure!

Any tips on how to handle the food during vacation would be much appreciated!
How was your week?

  1. Unless we are camping, at the timeshare or family's, I actually eat less on vacation because I have food allergies and eating out is extremely difficult to impossible.

I try to stick to fresh veggies, rice and lots of fruit. I treat myself with tea lattes though.

Congrats on your weight loss. Have fun.

  3. Usually when I'm on vacation we end up sharing a lot of the meals...restaurants put way too much on the plate and you can't take it back to the hotel...so I share with DH and sometimes all 3 of us share. It's amazing we never go hungry!
Order things that don't have a lot of heavy sauces, cheese or high fat. If I can get my hands on a veggie plate, I'm a happy gal. But I think the biggest tip is to not stress about it. You're on vacation, have fun.

  4. honestly, pack some of these smart food pop clusters. they are delish and you feel satisfied. i was out with my girls at an ice cream/candy shop and wanted something so badly, then i remember i had a bag and ate that. i believe it is only 2 or 3 points....a bag.

  5. OMG OMG!!! I'm so excited for you - 140 - wow!!!! You will make it to the 130s in no time!!!
You worked hard and it pays off - way to go - you ROCK!!! :)
I'm just like you, I get motivated when I see results, it makes me want to 'push' more...

I don't get vacations often, only a day here and a day there, so I don't usually have much of a plan. I'd say I try to keep portions small, because most of the time I don't have control over the ingredients and such...

Good luck and have a GREAT TIME!!! :)

  7. When I did Weight Watchers a couple of years ago, I allowed myself to eat what everyone else ate while on vacation. I just ate a LOT less of everything. I didn't lose any weight while I was on vacation, but I didn't gain any either. :) Good luck! You're doing great so far!
