Crazy Times...Sad News

You may have noticed that it has been a few days since I've been around and to say that things have gone crazy would be the understatement of the year.

The worst part of it is that my grandmother passed away late Monday night. She has been sick for awhile, although the doctors couldn't find a diagnosis for what was wrong. She would have these heat flashes that were so intense she complained that she felt like her body was going to explode. She went to the ER a couple of times and after the episodes they would have a really hard time getting her blood pressure back to normal. At her last appointment though they thought they had discovered the problem, which was a rare diagnosis that I am not even going to attempt to share. Honestly, I am not sure what the final word was that did cause her to die. Anyways, what was so crazy about it was that she and my grandfather were planning to come to Maryland for my brother's high school graduation this weekend. They were expected to arrive Wednesday night so I have had a hard time realizing that this is not going to happen now!!

So now I am off to Michigan tomorrow morning for the viewing and then the funeral on Friday. Friday night is my brother's scheduled graduation and he and I are going to attempt to catch a plane Friday afternoon and try to get him to his graduation so he can at least walk that night. We are kind of cutting it close so please keep us in your prayers that everything goes smoothly with the flight and driving to and from the airports. We are not going to take any baggage that has to be checked so hopefully that will help.

Of course while I have been making all of these arrangements I am also trying to get everything settled at school for the end of the year. I am going to miss the kids last two days so I have to get the report cards finished and ready to go home, create sub plans, delegate the volunteer party and end of the year staff party that I have organized for Thursday and Friday, clean out my room, and say goodbye to my students. Usually I am the crazy teacher dancing on the platform at the end of the last day, but this year I was very sad to say goodbye to them. I even cried!! I am sure I was more emotional with everything with my grandmother, but it was rough.

So here I am sitting at my computer at school typing this because I felt that I just needed to talk, or write in this case. I have missed blogging since it is my out, but I have been so emotionally drained lately that I felt I couldn't put two words together let alone a real post. I am extremely exhausted right now and will be going home to pack for Michigan and then pack the kids and some more clothes for staying the weekend at my parents in Maryland for my brother's graduation.

Please keep me and my family in your prayers. There is just so much happening right now and it would be great to have some extra prayers for peace. I will try to post some happy things soon, like pictures from New York or Zoe and my new pairs of shoes!!!

  7. I'm Audrey. I found your site through the MommyFest. Though it's long over I'm so loving all the women I'm meeting and all the great blogs I'm finding.

I'm so sorry on the loss of your grandmother. My own grandmother was an incredible woman. My daughter is named after her as my daughter never got to meet her. Again my condolences.
