Did I miss the full moon?

I realize I kind of kept you all hanging, okay the one of you who reads my blog hanging, about the whole dentist thing. I meant to post that afternoon, but then life interfered and since then I have been overwhelmed by craziness. So here is a quick recap of my week so far...

The dentist...yeah exactly as bad as I had thought. I go tomorrow for my consultation with the oral surgeon who will be removing four, yes FOUR, of my wisdom teeth. AAAGGGHHH! The good news though is that I will be happily sleeping in lala land while the surgeon works away! Some people I have talked to say that they were fine afterwards and then others have told me horror stories so I am not quite sure what to expect afterwards. It is kind of like birthing stories where some women have great stories to share and I could include myself in that one with Zoe, but then there are others who still cringe when they are telling the story 10 years later, and that would include me with Dylan. Anyways, don't you worry about having to wonder how it really is though because I will be sure to tell you the truth, and nothing but the truth so help me God, about how I feel!!

Tuesday was probably one of the worse days I have had in a very long time. My mom called me in the afternoon to let me know that my dad had been admitted to the hospital with chest pains and shortness of breath. In all my, almost 30, years my dad has never been in the hospital so I went into a slight panic mode. All ended well though and he was released the following day with no signs of having any kind of heart problems and passing his stress test with flying colors. They are still not sure what the pains were, but are going to look into maybe some kind of pulled muscle or maybe a reflux problem. He goes back to the doctor next week so hopefully will find some answers then.

Of course on Tuesday when my mom called I was just finishing a 3:00 meeting at work, heading to another school for a 4:00 meeting, going to Dylan's art festival at his school at 5:00, and then going back to my school at 6:30 for a PTO meeting. I got home around 8:30 and saying I was exhausted would be a huge understatement. But, just when I thought the day could not get worse it did and while I cannot go into details in order to respect a friends privacy I would so appreciate all the prayers you can send my way. Pray that I can find the right words to say and bring comfort to my friend during this time and pray that my friend can find strength and peace during a very uncomfortable situation. JUST PRAY!

Through all of this, I also have parents getting antsy with report cards coming out, trying to become a model classroom for a reading program (more about that soon I am sure, especially if my class makes it!!), finishing report cards, and dealing with 21 students who are getting very excited about the holidays and Thanksgiving break.

Psheww, it was nice to get that all typed out!

And now seeing how Thanksgiving is coming quickly let me share some things I am thankful for in order to end on a positive note...

I am THANKFUL for my health and having a nice comfy bed to rest my exhausted head this week in order to keep me going!

I am THANKFUL for my hubby who has been right beside me this week and helping as much as he can. He is truly an amazing man and I have no idea how I got so lucky.

I am THANKFUL for my two beautiful, healthy, smart, and funny kids. They never fail to make me smile and laugh on a daily basis. They also always seem to know when their mommy needs a hug and cuddle which is nice.

I am THANKFUL for the friends that God has given me. When I was trying to wrap my brain around the thought of my dad being in the hospital they were right there encouraging me.

I am THANKFUL for my laptop so that I can sit here in the quiet, in front of the crackling fire, smelling my pumpkin spice candle, and just get all of my thoughts out there. With my computer comes all of you bloggy friends too who even though you have never met me in real life I am thankfull that you all are still always ready and willing to leave an encouraging comment.

and on a less serious note...

I am THANKFUL for my Philosophy Cinnamon Bun body wash...it is heavenly!

Happy early Thanksgiving!!

  3. I had two wisdom teeth out seperatly both impacted and cut out. The first was real bad like I was hit in the jaw with a baseball bat. The second one I dident need pain killers. I think it depends on how their impacted and what moves afterwards. A friend just had twin girls who are 16 have their wisdom teeth out by the same Dr at the same time and they had a easy time. She told me they drill them with a laser then pull the roots out so its not as bad as it used to be. I hope yours is easy.
    Great site.

  4. I used to work in dentistry and we had a technique that helped with extractions. You could ask your dentist about it. For a day or so before the procedure, take ibuprophen as directed on the bottle. This helps inhibit swelling afterward.

I love the philosophy stuff too. Just love it!

  5. good grief! Altho I feel like I could give you a run for your money this week! We had American Education Week and it was as bad as I thought it would be. Parents who just wouldn't leave, parents who came when it was over... and a class full of do-do's who felt it necessary to act crazy nearly all week. phew.. I'm exhausted too!
Praying for your dad and for your friend.. that you will have the words and grace to help her out.

Enjoy a relaxing weekend... I plan on spending LOTS of time in my pj's!!

  6. I'll be thinking about you and praying about your dentist appointment. I hope your Dad is ok, sounds like it may have been a panic attack, sometimes they can seem like a heart attack. Will also be praying that you will know how to guide your friend. Love the list of things you are thankful for. Hope you enjoy your weekend and that things calm down a bit next week.

  9. Lord, I ask that you would comfort my chocolatey friend. Help her to know when to speak with her friend, and when to be silent. Fill her with your Holy Spirit, so she knows in each moment what You would have her do or say...and bless her in her gratitude! Hug my sister in Christ today, Lord, and let her feel Your arms around her. In Jesus' Name...AMEN!

It's been awhile since I visited your blog...and I'm sorry for that...not much time these days. Sheesh. :-)
