I've been very interested in the concept of the "flipped classroom." While I haven't quite flipped my teaching I have been playing with the idea of how I can videotape lessons for my students to view and then work with them on the concepts.

My first attempt was teaching "Central Message."  I made this video comparing Central Message to bumper stickers.


My students watched the video during a reading center and then completed a bumper sticker using the Central Message of the story we had read. Our story for the week was "Chrysanthemum" so most of their bumper stickers were along the lines of not bullying or being proud of your name. Here is my class with their bumper stickers!


I consider my first video lesson a success. Now for the next video...
