Blog210K Update

Bad News: I have no idea what week I'm on for Blog210K updates.
Good News: I'm still progressing towards my 10K
Fantastic News: I've added more fitness to my regular routine as I've gone to classes at my gym twice a week for three weeks now!

As far as my running...happy to say I'm still running.
As far as the plan, I'm on Week 6 of the program with four runs of 10 minutes with a 1 minute walk in between and the 5 minute warm up and cool down.  It's a long workout, but by golly I've done it!!  Last weekend I ran close to 4 1/2 miles on both Saturday and Sunday.  The one day was my longest run EVER.  Unfortunately though I didn't get any other runs in throughout the week.

Yesterday, I ran my first 5K since last spring.  It wasn't so pretty.  It was a cold, foggy, dreary morning and add that to not taking my warm up time and it was quite a tough run.  For some reason I struggled to catch my  breath pretty early on and had a burning in my chest that wouldn't go away.  I ended up walking for a few minutes throughout the race in hopes of being able to breathe deeply, but to no avail.  It didn't help that my Nike+ told me "Congratulations, you completed your 5K" when I knew I wasn't anywhere close to the finish line.  Considering my Nike+ has always been consistent when I use my phone GPS I'm going with my Nike results which had me finishing the 5K in 35:15.  However, according to the race clock it was 44:30some when I crossed the finish line.  When I stopped my Nike+ it had me running 3.84 miles in 44:55.  Not too bad of a time considering.  Definitely rooms for improvement though! I'm on the search for my next 5K already.

As for that fantastic news above, last time I gave an update I shared how I was planning on participating in a spin class at my gym.  Well that was three weeks ago and I'm happy to report that not only did I survive, but I've been back twice since then. Now I'm not going to lie. I HATE spin, but there is something about the feeling I get when I complete the class.  The first class I truly thought I was going to die.  I could  maybe complete half of the routines before I would have to sit and slow down.  Each week though I find myself getting stronger which is a huge confidence builder.  This past week I actually made it through the whole routine, sitting and standing.  I feel like I'm still slower than some of the other class members though so that's my next goal is to really pedal my heart out.

In addition to spin, I've also been attending a Combat Class once and week and I absolutely LOVE it.  It's basically a TaeBo, karate, aerobics type class that has you kick, punch, and jump for 45 minutes straight.  I'm a hot mess when it's finished, but boy do I feel good.  It's quite the stress reliever too.  I feel rejuvenated by the time class is over and ready to kick butt for the week since it's on Monday nights. Actually makes me look forward to Mondays.

So there you have it.  My fitness update.
I've been on the lookout for an upcoming 10K that I could run.  My goal is by May to be ready to run one.  Until then, I'm hoping to get in a few more 5K's and finish my 10 week Bridge to 10K program.
