Monday night I stayed late at school trying to get everything ready for my Christmas Program Tuesday night. After school, I had to make a stop at a craft store to pick up things for a last minute project I wanted to do at school that involved painting glass ornaments. Wait until you see them! You will be running out to your craft store too. By the time I got out of the craft store it was almost 6, I had two tired and whiny kids who were starving. Lucky for them I had a Pizza Hut gift card and there was one in the same parking lot as the craft store so we headed in. By the time we got home it was almost 8 and time to sign all the homework, check papers in backpacks, take a bath, snuggle a bit, and head to bed. I was tired and couldn't wait to go to sleep, but for some reason I didn't get to bed until after midnight. My dang reader kept calling my name and thoughts kept popping in my head for a new post. I kept telling myself one more and before you know it...midnight.
So telling you that I woke up on Tuesday tired, would be an understatement. After four cups of coffee I still wasn't ready to face my twenty 3rd graders, have them paint Christmas trees, have a Christmas program for 80 guests, and stay at school for 12 hours. But, I did survive! The program was a hit and the parents left that night with huge grins on their faces. Me...I left school around 7pm with visions of my bed, which come to think of it probably put a huge grin on my face too.
However, Tuesday one of my best friends had went into labor too, so I was on pins and needles all day waiting for the good news that my new little nephew had been born. By the time I got home though he still had not made his entrance and it looked like it was going to be a long night for mama, so I tossed and turned with my phone by side. Not the sleep I was hoping for.
Then yesterday morning, I woke up even more exhausted! I trudged to school with my cup of coffee and prayed the day would pass by quickly. I was supposed to go to Philly that night to meet up with my Philly Blogging Buddies and this is what kept me going throughout the day. I wasn't looking forward to the 2hr drive, but I couldn't wait to catch up with my friends. Then I got the call that my friend finally had her baby at 11:41 that morning so I decided I would head to the hospital to meet the babe, then go on to Philly. Wait until you see the pictures of this baby...he is absolutely gorgeous and let me just say that I am not one of those people who believes that all newborns are cute because face it...they're not!! But, this one breaks all the rules. I'll post a picture later so you can see for yourself.
Anyways I enjoyed my visit with my friend and the new baby, but by the time I left, full exhaustion kicked in. I thought I was going to fall asleep walking out of the hospital. I really wanted to keep going to Philly, but I just couldn't make it. I decided to go home and by 8:30 I was fast asleep in my bed. I have no idea when Dave put the kids to bed or came to bed himself. I don't think I moved until 5 this morning when my alarm went off. It was bliss! I really needed the good nights sleep.
So that brings us to today! I had taken off since I knew that I would be getting home very late from Philly. I figured even though I ended up staying home I would keep the day off. My sub was already taken care of, plans written, students prepared, so why mess with it. Zoe and I have a big shopping day planned. I have a huge list of things I want to accomplish so that I can call it done. I'm looking forward to spending the day with my little girl. Then we'll pick Dylan up from school and come home to an actual dinner...spaghetti and meatballs.
Hope you all have been having a great week!
Only 1 more day until Winter Break!!!
