My First Massage

My vacation started a couple days early as my girlfriends, Lyndie, Karlin, and Laurie stole me away last Friday. They had tried planning a weekend away to celebrate my 30th, but we just couldn't find a time when everyody was free. Unfortunately our friend Holly couldn't make it this weekend, but we decided to go ahead since the rest of us could. So we headed to St. Michaels, MD to visit a spa, hang out by the pool, enjoy a hubby/kid free dinner, and enjoy the company of girlfriends.
We left early on Friday morning in Laurie's mom's convertable. On the way there we discovered that one of us, ((cough)) Karlin, had forgotten our swimsuit. So sidetrip to Target to find a quick suit. She ended up finding one while I found 2 summer dresses, a shirt, and 2 purses. Definitely a good start to the weekend! The cruddy thing is that as we were driving in town a dump truck passed us and threw a rock on the windshield breaking it. We were all speechless. Then it was like being 16 again as we all started thinking about what she was going to tell her mom and how her mom would respond. We were joking about how she would never let us have the car again! It's funny how things like that can take you back in time.

We eventually made it to the house

in time for a wonderful lunch provided by Karlin and Lyndie. Karlin is definitely the cook in our group as she can prepare super yummy dishes. Just look at the spread...

After lunch it was time for our spa appointments. I was getting my first massage ever and was a bit nervous about the whole thing. I wasn't quite sure how I felt about being nekkid and rubbed all over by somebody not my husband. Here I am in my comfy robe and awesome flip flops provided by the spa.

The massage ended up being heavenly! As I was laying on my belly with my head in the funny thing I couldn't help, but think of the pile of drool that they were going to have to clean up on the floor. I was soooo relaxed when it was over. The lady told me to make sure to drink a lot of water to help my muscles after their work out. I am a big fan of working our muscles this way. Who needs a gym?

After the spa we lounged around the pool that was there. It was nice to just lay around and chat rather than yelling at the kids to "be careful", "jump futher away from the wall", "don't splash the people" and all that mom stuff. Instead we read our trashy magazines, gossiped talked, and even had the nice waiter bring us some snacks and drinks. It was a lovely afternoon.

For dinner, Lyndie had made us reservations at the Inn at Perry Cabin. We ended up having a beautiful table with a view.

I had scallops with mashed potatoes and a glass of Reisling. Dessert was divine as we had a lemon something or other and a Chocolate Peanut Butter dessert with Happy Birthday written on it.

By the end of the day I was so relaxed that I basically crashed the minute my head hit the pillow. Saturday we went to my favorite breakfast place where they serve the best fresh squeezed OJ. We did a bit of window shopping on the way back to the house where we were staying. Finally, it was time to say goodbye to our little hideaway and head back to reality. Of course on the way we made one more stop at Starbucks to enjoy a Mint Mocha Chip Frapp for the ride home. The perfect way to end a perfect girl's weekend!!

Aren't massages divine? I have a gift card for a local spa that is just begging to be used.

  6. I am so jealous right now. And don't worry about the puddle of drool on the floor. They expect that. Everyone does that or makes ugly slurping sounds during the massage trying to swallow all the drool that happens while you relax.
